Easy Party Food Ideas

Your choice of party food starts with what type of party you are planning. Is your party a sit-down dinner or are you just providing finger foods? If your guests are expecting a hearty meal then you will need to provide one! The food you serve will depend on the time of day of the party. Anything after 6 pm will need to be substantial. Afternoon parties are the easiest because they wonít require a lot of food. Here are some easy foods for parties:

  1. Snack foods that are simple to prepare include cheese and biscuits, nuts, popcorn, chips, pates and dips. You can buy dips or make easy ones yourself.
  2. Pizza, whether you order takeout or make it yourself, is a simple food that most people enjoy. They are especially popular with teenagers and children. You could even get them to make their own as part of the party entertainment. Toppings can include cheese, pepperoni, ham, onions, peppers, olives and anchovies. Obviously, you need a fondue set, more than one is preferable so you can have different foods cooking. Try cheese fondue or hot oil fondue with your choice of meats and vegetables either plain or in the batter. Dessert is delicious with a variety of fruits dipped in a chocolate fondue sauce.
  6. How about a hot potato bar? Have the potatoes pre-baked in their skins then get the guests to fill and garnish with a variety of toppings. These could include: salsa, cheese, cooked onions, mushrooms, pineapple, chili beef, sour cream, olives, tomato and hot sauces.
  7. Afternoon tea parties can be easy by making different types of sandwiches and having a few varieties of cakes to have with tea and coffee. The sandwich fillings can be as simple as cucumber or chicken, made interesting with different types of bread. Sweet and savory muffins are easy to make and will be an excellent addition to any afternoon tea menu.
